As a journalist, I strive to tell useful and compelling stories across multiple platforms to reach the appropriate audience. I love tackling new challenges whether it’s a new subject, medium or newsroom.
I served as a reporter at KBIA, the NPR member station in Columbia, Missouri. I pitched mid-Missouri stories, conducted interviews, gathered audio, scripted and edited stories for the newscast.
Statehouse Correspondents work with the Missourian and with Missouri Digital News, a news wire service in Missouri to cover Missouri’s legislature. I served as a reporter covering hearings and bills impacting mid-Missouri and the greater state. I conducted interviews, pitched ideas, researched legislation, reported and produced print and digital stories.
At the Missouri School of Journalism, convergence majors learn how to tell stories across multiple platforms to reach the widest audience. During the fall semester in 2016, we worked in groups of four or five reporters to research, pitch, report and produce an investigative, enterprise piece. The teams were given eight days to conduct interviews, gather research, storyboard, script, edit and begin production. The eighth day was deadline day when we would produce a large audio or video piece, social media element, photo gallery, infographic and text piece.
